Ginger-Garlic Top Sirloin

When you put your recipes on the web, you will sometimes find yourself collaborating with cooks around the world. Golden River Farms, an organic livestock ranch in Great Britain, held a tasting event where this Foodie Kitchen recipe took second place out of dozens of entries. Serve with steamed rice to soak up some of the delicious sauce.
Yield 4 servings
Ingredients

1/4 cup soy sauce
1/2 medium onion, chopped
4 cloves garlic, peeled
1/4 cup rice vinegar
1 tablespoon toasted sesame oil
2 tablespoons fresh ginger, chopped
1 teaspoon sugar
1 cup chopped scallions (divided use)
1 1/4 pounds top sirloin steak, about one and a quarter inch thick

1 In a food processor or blender, combine soy sauce, onion, garlic, vinegar, oil, ginger and sugar, then process until almost smooth.
2 Place steaks in a plastic bag. Pour marinade over steaks, add 1/2 of the chopped scallions, and turn to coat steaks. Seal and refrigerate, marinating at least 2 hours or overnight.
3 Prepare a charcoal or gas grill. Remove steaks from marinade and grill over high heat, approximately 5 minutes per side for medium-rare.
4 Meanwhile, pour marinade into small saucepan and bring to a boil, then lower heat and cook for 2-3 minutes. Strain into small pitcher.
5 Thinly slice steak across the grain and fan slices on serving platter. Drizzle some of the sauce over the steak and garnish with remaining scallions. Serve remaining sauce on the side.
