Crab Boil

Zatarains

Zatarains makes a blend of herbs to put in water when boiling crab or shrimp. Use 3 tablespoons of this mix per boil.
Ingredients
4 tablespoons mustard seeds
3 tablespoons coriander seeds
1 tablespoon red pepper flakes
1 tablespoon dill seeds
8 bay leaves
1 teaspoon whole cloves
1 teaspoon black pepper
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon thyme
 
Steps
1 Combine in a mortar and pestle. Partly pulverize, leaving many of the seeds and leaves intact.

2 Seal in airtight jars. Keep in dark, cool storage.

original recipe yield: half cup
Notes NOTE Depending on each herb's availability and freshness, it may take different proportions to get the mix you like. Fresh marjoram is optional.
