Juicer Carrot Pulp Dog Biscuits

American

If you're a fan of juicing, you know how quickly leftover pulp adds up. Instead of tossing it away, why not turn that nutrient-rich carrot pulp into a batch of healthy, homemade dog biscuits? These treats are simple, nutritious, and a great way to reduce food waste. As they bake, your kitchen fills with the warm aroma of fresh cookies, making tails wag in anticipation. Packed with natural fiber and flavor, these biscuits are a delicious and wholesome reward your pup will love. A single recipe will require a 1/4 sheet (approximately 9"x12").
Ingredients
3 tablespoons peanut butter
6 tablespoons warm water
1/4 cup olive oil
2 cups oat flour
4 cups carrot pulp, left over from juicing carrots
Steps
1 Preheat the oven to 350F/160C. In a large bowl, whisk together peanut butter, warm water, and olive oil. Add the oat flour and carrot pulp and mix until smooth. It should be the consistency of chunk-light tuna fish salad, thick but spreadable. Add more water, a tablespoon at a time, if necessary.

2 Spray or oil the baking sheet. Spoon the mixture onto the sheet and press to distribute evenly. Use a rolling pin to make the dough as smooth and even as possible. Alternatively, you can use a same-size baking sheet to press down on top of the mixture.

3 Using a butter knife, score the dough, making approximately 2"x 2" squares (you can always break the final product into smaller treats, but I find this size optimal for handling). Use your knife to neaten up any jagged edges.

4 Bake for 20 minutes. While still warm, very gently cut through the score marks.

5 IF USING A DEHYDRATOR: Let the biscuits cool enough to handle, then using a spatula, move the squares to dehydrator trays, leaving enough space in between for good air circulation. Dehydrate overnight at 135 degrees. (24 hours is the typical amount of time, but can take up to two days.) TO OVEN DRY: Put another oiled baking sheet face down over the biscuits. Flip the entire thing over, and remove the top pan. Turn the oven down to its lowest setting and bake until the cookies are absolutely crisp. This could take 4-8 hours, depending on the thickness of the biscuits, your oven temperature, and the humidity outside. Regardless of the method you use, you must remove all moisture from them, as they will otherwise mold.

6 Store in an airtight container.
